We are proud to announce the first ever Beyond Chess Tournament, to be held May 1, 2021, at Heroes & Fantasies, Texas’ largest comic/collectible store, located here in San Antonio!
Date: May 1, 2021
Time: 11 am check-in, 12-5 Tournament
Location: Heroes & Fantasies, 4923 NW Loop 410, San Antonio, TX
Each player will play 5 games, two starting with the traditional 8x8 square board, and three on Mozie’s board. Players will be match for first game using FIDE ratings, and players without a rating will be match together.
Keep in mind, in Beyond Chess, you move a piece, then shift a square. The boards start in these setups but dramatically change throughout the game! Prepare for battle!
Prizes:
All players receive a commemorative collectable tournament board square that can be used in future games of Beyond Chess!
1st prize: $100, serialized 1st Place golden board square trophy, commemorative Beyond Chess Set & winner gets to design a board to be featured in the forthcoming Beyond Chess relaunch.
2nd prize: $60, serialized 2nd Place silver board square trophy.
3rd prize: $40, serialized 3rd Place bronze board square trophy.

Entry Fee: $25. All payments must be made by April 17, 2021. Late payments may result in forfeiture of your seat to another player.

Winners in Beyond Chess tournaments receive Winning Serialized Board Squares as trophies that can be used during play of future games of Beyond Chess and in competitive play! The Squares’ serial numbers are registered with The Beyond Chess Federation and will be listed on this site.

Complete Rules:
Due to COVID-19, tournament will be limited to 30 players. Masks will be required. If you have symptoms, please do no attend. The first 30 players to sign up will play and we waiting list will be used if needed.
Time control: 50 minutes per game. Chess clocks will be used.
We will be using traditional chess tournament rules.
Point system: Win 3 points, draw 1 point each, loss 0 points. Player with the most points at the end of the tournament will be declared winner. Ties will be decided by playoff.
*First place winner will be able to create a Beyond Chess board design that will be named after them, and will be featured in the forthcoming new Beyond Chess relaunch and online game. Winner does not have any rights over the board design and understands Beyond Chess may use the design in any way they would like without compensation to the winner.
